La Corriente
// About

What La Corriente is

La Corriente is an independent review of Latin American current affairs — politics, economy, society and culture, read across the whole region rather than country by country.

We publish reported features, analysis and explainers, not minute-by-minute breaking news. The aim is a sharp, engaged, on-the-ground voice that stays rigorous in fact: no sensationalism, no manufactured urgency, and no pretence that a complicated region can be summarised in a headline.

Independence

La Corriente is not affiliated with any newspaper, wire service or broadcaster. Sponsorship keeps the review running, and it never shapes coverage: the desks that choose our supporters and the desks that write our pieces do not overlap. Every sponsored slot on the site is labelled as such.

What we cover

Five standing sections — The Region, Politics, Economy, Society and Culture — plus the Country Watch, a standing regional index with one line per country, updated each issue.

Imagery

Our photography shows places and context only: cityscapes, plazas, markets, landscapes, currency, infrastructure. We do not publish images of identifiable private individuals, fabricated news photographs, or images of minors.

Corrections

We correct the record plainly and promptly. If we got something wrong, tell the desk.
